Latvian “Tay” Washington McGee, 33, was driving to Mexico with Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown and Eric Williams, a close friend of Washington McGee’s, speaking on condition of anonymity, told CNN.

Friends of Washington McGee said she was traveling to Matamoros, Mexico, for cosmetic surgery scheduled for Friday.

The group booked a hotel in Brownsville, Texas, and planned to drive to Matamoros for surgery, according to the friend.

The last time she heard from Washington McGee was on Friday morning when she sent her a video message letting her know she had arrived in Mexico.

But family and friends of Washington McKee became concerned after they heard nothing from the group on Saturday.

“Another cousin of hers who went with her to Matamoros for her first surgery, posted asking if anyone had heard from her,” a friend of Washington McGee told CNN.

She told CNN that when she spoke to Washington McKee’s cousin, she became increasingly concerned when he told her that the doctor’s office had contacted her to ask about Washington McKee’s condition because she had never had surgery.

“We’ve been calling all their phones and it’s all going to voicemail. I called her mum too and she told me she couldn’t reach them either. That’s when I knew something was wrong. ” said the friend.

Friends of Washington McGee said the group, all from or near the Myrtle Beach area, had driven from South Carolina to Brownsville and then into Matamoros.

Washington is a mother of six children, ranging in age from five to 18, her friend added.
